Professor Sidi Ahmed Mahmoudi from the University of Mons (UMONS) recently delivered an insightful seminar at the Fifty-One Club de Mons Levant, an association dedicated to promoting friendship, esteem, tolerance, and service to the community.
The presentation, titled "Évolution de l’IA : du Test de Turing aux Modèles Larges et Profonds", provided members with a comprehensive overview of artificial intelligence (AI), covering its history, fundamental concepts, applications, and future perspectives.
Professor Mahmoudi discussed major milestones, from Alan Turing’s pioneering test in 1950, through the birth and evolution of AI, to contemporary developments such as deep learning and generative AI technologies. He also introduced his research team, Deep'ILIA, which specializes in cutting-edge AI research.
Participants were particularly engaged by discussions on practical AI applications such as autonomous vehicles, voice assistants, computer vision, and robotics, as well as intriguing concepts like Moravec's paradox, highlighting tasks easily performed by humans but challenging for machines.
Professor Mahmoudi’s seminar perfectly aligned with the values of the Fifty-One Mons Levant club, contributing to fostering understanding, collaboration, and promoting community education on technological innovations shaping our future. 🌟
